New Year, New Start

Well here we are the first day of 2009 is coming to an end, having looked at my last post I noticed that I have not posted for three months, why ? I am not sure, I guess I lost interest, I also stopped posting on www.film-talk.com about my viewing habits and on www.dvdaf.org about my DVD and Blu-Ray purchases, the new year is always a good time to start fresh and make an effort to begain as I mean to go on and all that, my continuing battle with depression is continuing much as it has for the last year or so, I am trying to keep taking my pills and get my prescription filled in plenty of time to avoid running out, my job is going OK but has come to an end (as of 16/1)it is not something I am used to; being told I have no longer got a job, except the whole business going under thing last year, I need to get something sorted out, at the moment there is nothing much out there, what with the ever present 'Economic Downturn' I think my best bet is to get a few temping assignments whilst I look for somehting that I can really love.

Anyway, I went to bed at about 3am this morning, I was messing about on www.facebook.com and half watching TV, New Years Eve was pretty much the same as usual, we had dinner with Karley's Dad and watched the fireworks display in London on the TV at midnight.

We were intending to chill out for the day so after a late breakfast /early lunch of Sausage and Egg muffins Si came round for some Call Of Duty action, we played for a few hours and then Karley and I watched the surprisingly decent Prom Night .

Rain Rain Go Away

It has been a really funny week, it started off cold then got hot then was windy and rainy, I guess what we had of the Summer has ended, oh well, I am a Winter person really.

The week was fairly uneventful aside from visiting our head office in London, I had to get the 7.25 which was of course delayed, the day was actually for an induction thing which was actually pretty boring, there were just various people from different deptartments that where wheeled out to tell us what they do, yawn ! The afternoon was a bit more interesting, we visited a large development that is currently under construction in Islington, North London close to the new Arsenal ground.

I was interested to read on www.digitalspy.com that 'Ghostbusters 3' is pretty much a goer, it is going to written by the guys that do the US Office which is excellent, although finding out it will be animated was very depressing - 'TMNT' anyone ?

2 Months

Oh dear, it has been nearly two months since I last osted on my blog, I feel bad as the last entry really left people hanging, I scared a few people I think so I wanted to fisrtly make sure people knew I was ok and pick up where I left off so to speak.

Nothing much has changed, I am still working my socks off at Southern Housing Group, I had my 3 month appraisal and did pretty well, I am still uploading bits and pieces to youtube and watching Movies whenever possible, as from today it is the re-launch of the kennel.

So this is Summer then is it ?

I am a really bad blogger having not done any updates for ages, it is now July so you might be thinking it was Summer, well, after walking into work with my umbrella again I beg to differ.

Things haven't really changed too much, I had a meeting with the bank manager earlier in the week and found out that the loan that would have been the answer to most of my problems was not going to available to me, I didn't take the news too well, in fact when I got home last night I drank a bottle of wine and half a bottle of Brandy and had what could be described as a breakdown, fortunatly Karley wrestled my anti-depresants out of my hand before I made a big mistake.

I had to work last Saturday for the first time with my new company, it wasn't too bad as it was until 1pm and it was a little more laid back than a normal day, when I got home I had a bit of a cleaning session before going to see my Brother and Sister-in-law as it was her birthday. On Sunday we went and hung out with my parents for most of the day watching the Grand Prix and playing cards before going out for dinner at th always excellent China Brassery.

I have been trying to not buy any new stuff for the last week or so but Fining it pretty hard, I succumbed to 'Rambo' on Blu-ray which I almost instantly regretted but hey, I might as well keep it !

Busy week so far

Wow it has been a real busy week so far and it is only Thursday evening, I have done a couple of hours over time this week which is ok as it brings my total for the month up to 29, payday is middle of next month so it really can't come quick enough.

I had a spot of luck whilst I was walking out of the office on Monday evening, I bumped into a bank manager I vaguely knew through my old boss, I mentioned to him about my current financial situation and he said I go and see him to talk about the options I have, I am seeing him next week so fingers crossed.

On Tuesday I went to see my Brother's 7-a-side football team, the Billingshurst Beavers, play in the Summer league, they were playing Kings Arms Ajax and lost 3-1 it was pretty funny watching a load of late twenty year olds puffing and panting around the pitch, we hung on for a quick beer.

Yesterday afternoon I went on a work field trip to The Isle Of Wight, it was pretty interesting, there was four of us from the office, we were over there to see what the office did there and shadow some of the people on the island, we had a few drinks last night and headed to bed at about 11.30, I woke up at 5.00 unable to get back to sleep I lay in bed with a splitting headache, got up and improved my hangover with a big cooked breakfast, we worked all day and caught the ferry back to the mainland at about 5.

It was a nice weekend, I spent Saturday just chilling as usual with some time spent adding my first ever video to youtube and putting in some GTA4 time, I am really impressed with just how big the game is you could just spend hours driving around the city, I wonder how much like New York and the surrounding areas it actually is, I hope that the next one is in London.

On Sunday we were supposed to go swimming, I thought it was strange that when I arrived at Pavillions In The Park my Brother and the girls were still outside, Sophie then informed me that we weren't going swimming as Daddy had forgotten the swimming stuff, we hit the park instead for a couple of hours of assualt course and zip line action as well as the old school favourite that is the see-saw and swings.

Karley and I went over to my parents as it was my Dad's Birthday whilst they were away, I got the old man a Pavarotti CD and a book about Historic stories of valour and selflessness, he liked it so that was pretty cool.

Yesterday I tripped over the power cable for my laptop and hit my wooden lounge foor hard enough to knock the wind out of me, send my bottle of Corona flying and dropped my bowl of nuts, I am a really painful thigh now, I am sure it is only a matter of time before a techni-colout bruise appears as it was hurting so much through the night I woke up several times finally getting up at 6am.

This week I got my blackberry as I mentioned last week, it is really smart and dead simple to use, it is pretty cool getting my emails sent to me, I never realised quite how much crappy spam I get sent but at least now I can read it on the toilet. I also treated myself to a Flip video cam, I have a DVD camera but find it massive hassle to use and the discs are a pain to get hold of, I am really interested in making VLOGs to put on youtube so look to the right for a link to my channel:

First day of Summer

Yesterday was the first day of Summer, this morning it is grey and windy with some rain thrown in for good measure, it is, however, really humid which is always horrible, I have just worked up a sweat walking to Roffey Griddle for a big fried breakfast, my plan for the rest of the day invloves me smoking a couple of cigars, playing with my new gadgets (mentioned below) and maybe doing a bit of ironing.

This week has been much of the same really, working over time and not really doing a whole lot else, I had to pick my Mum and Dad up from the Airport having just been to Portugal, the flight was delayed and didn't get in until 12.25am they finally got out of the terminal at nearly 1am, just want I needed after a 10 hour day, by the time I got home and finally got to sleep it was about 4am, nice one ! I started work at 8.30am so needless to say I was like a zombie by the time I finally got home on Thursday evening.

After working my ass off for the last couple of weeks I was really looking forward to getting a good night's sleep and fell into a coma as soon as my head hit the pillow last night, I woke about 11 feeling fuzzy headed, we just pretty much chilled all day, did a bit of cleaning and watched 'Cloverfield' on Blu-ray.

I have another busy week lined up and a whole bunch of annoying paperwork things to take care of tomorrow as well as a nice £500 cheque I really have to write, well it was nice having money in my bank between Friday when I got paid and now.

I found out that as part of my broadband package I can get a Blackberry for a fiver a month so I got right on it and ordered it, it'll be here by about Wednesday so that's pretty cool.

It has been a while since I blogged, I have been working really long hours and just haven't had the time, my movie watching and game playing have also suffered. Karley got herself a new car during the week, check for some photo updates on Flickr.

For some reason I got up really early this morning so I as playing 'Call Of Duty' at about 6 o'clock, I had a couple of cups of tea and headed out for my usual Saturday morning breakfast followed by a cigar and watching some really interesting Laserdisc collection videos on youtube, there were some really cool releases available for those big ugly things, I can't help but think that HD-DVD is the laserdisc for the next generation.

I am just watching the excellent director's cut of 'Alien' it looks really good as I have it through my upscale player.

Walk to work day

Yesterday my company encouraged everyone to walk to work as part of a whole reducing your carbon footprint thing, I was going to walk in anyway so I put my name down for the free stepometer and healthy free breakfast, I was really disappointed that my walk is only 0.4miles as it feels like longer, the smoothie and muffin was good though !

I was really happy to find out the amazing 'Cloverfield' was out on Blu-ray today and even more pleased that it is region free and out ages before the UK version so I jumped on it and ordered it immediatley, I got an email just now saying it had been posted so that's my Saturday sorted out then.

I found out that my new job comes with the chance of earning some extra money doing overtime, it works out about £25.00 p/h and I have put my name down for 10 hours this week and hopfully next week, what with walking to and from and putting in a 10 hour day I am feeling a bit tired, last night I got in an zoned out on the sofa watching 'The Gadget Show' on TV eating a kebab.

I have been lacking in the old blog posting recently, my new job is fast becoming a major part of my life, and so I am really throwing myself into it and that might be why I have been not blogging so much.

So, what's been going on, I was well pleased to get hold of 'AVP2' on Blu-ray as it was really good when I saw at the movies, and really should help the erase all memories of the piss poor first movie, I also picked up 'Shrooms' a sort of indy Irish horror flick about the perils of magic mushrooms.

I have been walking to and from work whenever possible and feel like I might be getting fitter and shedding a couple of pounds, it is nice to put my Ipod on and check out what Major Nelso from Xbox live has to say on his podcast, my ear buds are getting really crappy so I got a new pair of blue JVC ones for a bargin price of £5.00

My quest to finish 'GTA4' is going pretty well, I have played a few of the other games and have spent far too much time running around randomly killing passersby and so I am determined to do the missions this time around.

Last night we went to a BBQ at Si'd place, he just got a shiny new gas grill so fired it up along with plently of Hank Hill impressions aboout 'Tasting the meat not the heat' I fell off the wagon and drank about 8 bottles of Carona along with two cigars, bringing my total up to 3 for the day, today my mouth is a little dry'

Indy's still got it

I went to the movies on Thursday, there was me, Si anjd my mum, we are all big time fans of the man and were well excited about 'Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull' after all this time and I, personally, wasn't a big fan of the last one.

There are some really nice touches, especially at the begaining when the old Paramount logo appears and fades out to a cliff just like in 'Raiders' there is even a quick apperance of the Ark aswell. All in all I thought it was really excellent, not too much CGI but what there was was a bit overdone and the story was really excellent, I really recommend going to see it and pay no attention to the 'haters' that have slated it.

Jazz on a Wednesday

I just hot Itunes and got the soundtrack for the radio station JNR 108.5 from 'Grand Theft Auto 4' I dip in and out of jazz but basically really like it and this is a tip top selection of stuff featuring Miles Davis, Duke Ellington & Charlie Parker, I am really just killing time whilst dinner cooks in the oven, we are having Chicken pie, roast potatoes and peas, I have got the UEFA cup final on the background it is Chelsea Vs Manchester Utd from Moscow, that'll probably do it now as I have to boil some water for the peas.

It has been a week since I blogged last so that isn't too good is it ? I am still really enjoying my new job and walking to and from work every day is proving to be a real highlight of the day, Ipod in my ears and cool breeze in the morning, I am really getting into Podcasts, especially Major Nelson from Xbox Live.

The Weekend was pretty good, On Saturday I devoted some time to 'Grand Theft Auto 4' and unlocked a couple of challenges, we watched the new Blu-ray of 'Sweeny Todd' that I really liked, dark and gory and typical Tim Burton, I read today that he is doing a new version of 'Alice In Wonderland' which I expect will be wicked.

Sunday we intended to go to a Car Boot Sale (Swapmeet)but when we got there it was canceled so we'll go next week instead, we headed over to Hobby Craft as Karley wanted to start doing some card making, we went over to see my Mum & Dad and hung out in the garden, got back home and watched 'Reaper' that was on earlier in the week.

Hot Weekend

It was a very hot weekend, Saturday started pretty early as I got up at about 8, I had to go the post office and pick up a package so I walked down puffing on a nice cigar in the sunshine, I realised that I has left my keys at home, so I had to walk thru the park into town and get the key off Karley, very annoying, I walked back home stopping off at Si's house and got home really sweaty and played some 'Grand Theft Auto 4'

Si came over and we hung out watching 'Teen Wolf Too' and 'Universal Soldier' which was cool as I haven't seen either of them for years, I was really tired after starting a new job and it being so hot all day so had a really good sleep.

Today was hot again, Karley and I went out to get some breakfast and went into town to sit out and have a drink, we stopped off at Tesco and got some presents for the girls as well as some smart / casual clothes for work. We went over to see the new baby, she is really sweet with loads of thick black, her name is Elizabeth Jane and the other two girls are really in love with her and very proud of her, (I have stuck a photo below with me and my three nieces) We had a walk down to the park and played on the swings and blew some bubbles.

Karley and I got back home and had Dominos, it wasn't free this time unfortunatley!

Free Subway !

On Friday night we decided to have Subway and the one in Horsham has just started delivering so we got online and ordered some subs, after about an hour the shop called and said they were having problems with thier emails and they only just got our order so our sandwiches would be free ! Subway is good at the best of times and when it's free it tastes even better.

Having posted about my new jobs twice already this year I thought I would do it again, I started at Southern Housing yesterday and it is pretty good, my role is income recovery which is basically folowing up on rental arrers which is a little ironic really but there is loads of career progression and a chance to move around so that is cool.

It has been a hot week, almost like Summer, it is nice to get home and put my shorts on, shame about my lilly white legs ! although I hear it is going to be good all weekend so I might be able to catch a few rays.

I was really interested to read in the paper this morning that Best Buy is plannng to open over here in the UK, I hope they continue the American policy of cheaper DVDs on the first week of release and the cool exclusives things they have.

I am Iron Man

Last night I went to see 'Iron Man' with Si, it was really packed and very hot and I am sure there were more adverts before the trailers than usual, that really annoys me, I would rather have a few more trailers and not have to sit thru the same adverts that are on TV, anyway, the movie itself was really REALLY good.

Robery Downey Jr was excellent and really nailed the hero Tony Stark / Iron Man and the CGI was spot on, I am sure that it will take some beating, I really cannot wait until the sequel as, with the Marvel movies the first tends to be almost like a pilot for the franchise so not a lot happens aside from setting the scene and telling the back story, I heard that the second one will be out in 2010, unfortunatly we didn't stay until the credits ended so missed Smauel L Jackson's cameo, but I found it on www.youtube.com

To be honest after seeing 'Iron Man' I am really looking forward to 'The Incredible Hulk' which is out next month, especially as Tony Stark appears in it aswell.

Long Weekend

It was a nice 3 day weekend in the uk, the weather was good and it was almost feeling a bit summery, I spent Saturday chilling after my big night out on Friday, On Sunday Karley and I had a wander around town then headed over to my Brother's place to hang out, we went to the park and Sophie had a go at riding her bike without stablisers, she did pretty well but then her chain fell off !

On Monday Karley and I went to do our food shopping early, Karley had an appointment to get contact lenses so we got to Tesco at about 10, had some breakfast and did our shopping, we went to the garden centre to get some new plants for our front step / garden, it looks really nice if I do say so myself, we ran into town and picked up some iced Lattes from Starbucks, I went out in the evening to see the really fantastic 'Iron Man' in the evening.

Last night my mate Si played with his two man band at a pub in Wiltshire, Ross and I went along with him, the place was a tiny little village in the middle of nowhere, it was just like the one in 'Hot Fuzz' hence the title of this post,they thought we were cockneys as they are proper country folk down there.

We had a good drink up at the bar and the landlord sorted us out a free room for the night so that was cool,I put away a whole load of beer but steered clear of mixing in liquor so that meant my hangover wasn't too savage. Si played a really good set of old school rock and country and even 'Wish You Were Here' by Pink Floyd, after a spent the whole night pestering him to do it.

I got home just after 11am did a few chores, smoked a cigar and listened to 'The Hollywood' podcast whilst drinking ginger beer.

Yesterday I had an interview working for a company that deals with social housing, the role is recovering rent arrears, which is slightly ironic as I am paying off debts all over the place, the interview went well, I did a couple of tests including a maths one that I managed to get 90% on, I was shocked, anyway they offered me the job starting on Thursday which is pretty cool, they were going to get me started on Tuesday but as there is another guy starting at the same time so they are going to do it at the same time, hopfully this is the reboot my life needs.

Yeah I am still into Facebook and since being unemployed for the last week I have spent a fair bit of time messing about with it, I found an add-on today that shows what you have been adding to and playing on Itunes so I have found myself sitting for most of the afternoon smoking Luckies with random throwing up some kind of crazy musical mixed grill from Pink Floyd to Nick Cave and Deep Purple to Moby to Kiss and a really excellent demo of Billie Jean from 1983, Michael Jackson used to be so good didn't he ?

It has been a week or so since I last updated my blog which is a bit naughty, last week I felt terrible, I had a virus thing which left me exhausted and with a high tempreature, I am alright now, trying to get myself another job as I left my last one now, I have a second interview lined up for tomorrow so that should be ok, I have been tryingt to not spend too much money so I have laid off buying DVDs and Games for the last month it is proving really hard.

I have to say that my depression has started to get worse, I have just got back from the doctor, he has refered me to the community mental healt unit, that sounds really hardcore but I am hoping there is no electro-shock treatment involved.

Not a lot else has happened really, I have had an appointment with the Citizens Advice Berau about my, well, debts and they has set up an interview for me next week with an expert as well getting me to contact the DSS to find out what benefits and stuff I can get to help me through this sort of difficult time in my life, I have never claimed benefits before in my life but the way I see it I have worked hard and paid my taxes all this time so maybe I should get something back for a short time, anyway my appointment with them is tomorrow so I'll see what happens then.

Still Getting Over The Weekend

It is always a waste being ill at the weekend and with aching bones, high tempretaure and 'toliet' problems, I spent the whole time on the sofa watching TV and feeling wierd, I did manage to catch the really excellent '30 Days Of Night' on Bluray and the classic 'Conan The Barbarian' which I have not actually ever watched before. Even though it is Tuesday I still feel pretty dodgy.

It has been a funny week, Monday was a big night out followed by two day hangover I must be getting old, work is really not going so great with NO placements but I am not going to moan on about that as it makes my blog very boring reading, yesterday I traded in a load of old games and got 'Forza 2' on the 360 and 'Mario Cart' for the Wii, later Si and I went over to Jamies place to play 'COD 4' on his PS3 it was really weird as the controls are slightly different so I had a bit of a nightmare.

Yesterday Karley and I hd a trip up to London, we planned to go early so we could spend the whole day there but unfortunatly overslept to about 10.30, we got the train at abot lunchtime and headed for the Natural History Museum, it was pretty interesting although very busy, I was particually looking forward to seeing the dinosaurs, Karley was really excited to go and took hundreds of photos, I'll upload them to Flickr later, we stayed there for a few hours and afterwards jumped on the tube and headed to the Hard Rock Cafe Vault, they bacially have a load of extra memrobila in an underground bank vault, I was well impressed to see a signed guitar from Slash, John Lennon's hand written lyrics for Instant Kama and a signed guitar from David Bowie, agian, I'll get the photos onine ASAP.

We got home at about 8.30 and as we were both starving we had a curry, having not had curry for ages it was good good good, we watched 'True Lies' and the coverage of the masters and headed off to bed at about midnight.

Karley's Birthday

Yesterday it was Karley's 21st Birthday, we are going to London at the weekend to go to the natural history museum, for her birthday I wanted to get her something a bit 'Different' so I bought her an acre of land on the moon, you get the deeds and everything, so that'll look nice framed on the wall I thought, she had a pretty good day, the girls she works with got her loads of stuff including a whole bunch of balloons.

It was really cold last night, Karley went out with her work mates to celebrate her Birthday next week, Si and Double J came over to hang out, we obviously played a fair few games of 'COD4' and in face finished the first stage of the online multiplayer game which was pretty cool.

We woke up this morning to a nice Christmas card scene outside our window and after a couple of cups of tea and a sausage sandwich we headed out for a walk in the winter wonderland, we throw a few snowballs and enjoyed the morning before heading out to do our foo shopping, I am just having a cosy afternoon watching TV, 'Big' is about to start, I am going back to work tomorrow so I'll try and get a early night so I am fully charged and ready to go, I am really keen to get my debts cleared and spend some money doing up the flat this Summer.

...By the way, the horse named Simon didn't win the grand national yesterday.

Ok, so an interesting thing happened earlier in the week, I got to thinking and have decided that the best thing to do is go back to my old job and really get my self together so to speak, I have to admit that it is a pretty good job and there is some really good potential to earn some good chedder, I went in to see my boss Traci on Wednesday and she said that I could come back as of Monday so that was pretty cool, I am back to normal after coming off my pills and having been back on them for a few days I am firing on all cylinders, I even got myself together and emailed a new submission into www.hecklerspray.com

For the last couple of days I have just hung out smoking cigars, going for a spring time sunshine walk and playing 'Call Of duty 4' in fact my buddy Si came over today for a big old session, we downloaded the maps that have just become available but unfortunatly aren't on the multiplayer game yet, which is a bit rubbish.

What else have I been upto, well, watching loads of 'The Wonder Years' and I have also starting trying to learn the guitar, I am borrowing one off Si as well as an idiots guide to learning the axe, I can play the riff from 'Satisfaction' by the stones so that is a pretty good start, also I watched the piolt episode of 'Supernatural' which was really good, I am well behind on that one but I think it might become one of my favourite shows.

I decided yesterday that I should do some work whilst I get myself another job so I went to an agency and temped, I was surprised that they had something for me straight away, I walked to this medical supply place across the road from my place for a shift from 1.45 - 10.45 I got there and put on my paper jump suit, hair net and plastic shoe covers and sat at my workstation, the job was to count little rubber discs into piles of 40 discarding damaged ones, I was truly in hell, not least as I was the only one there that spoke English and the radio was tuned to crappy local Radio Mercury, all for £5.65 an hour.

Needless to say I am not going back.

Last night I watched the fantastic 'Air Guitar Nation' it follows the American heats and then world final of Air guitar playing, there were some really brilliant players, espeically C Diddy who is pictured above the the fantastically named Bjorn Turoque, check it out especially as the soundtrack is amazing !

I have a bunch of movies to watch, my viewing has been well down this month with going away, I have a really gory indy horror movie called 'Broken' to check out as well as 'Commando' & 'No Country For Old Men' on Blu-ray and 'Highlander' that I recorded off TV the other day, As I sit here on a rainy cold Friday evening I just had a really bad bout of cramp in my leg, it really hurts.

There is a really uneasy feeling circulating around me although having taken a happy pill I am feeling a little less like I am going to fall over.

Unemployed....again

After a bit of a rollercoaster in the world of recruitment, I quit today, I am feeling pretty bad about how it happened, I should have done it face to face but took the easy way out, I was almost immediatley filled with a overrwhelming sense of self loathing and a sort of lost sensation, what am I going to do now ? it feels like 6 months hasn't happened and I am again on the edge of oblivion, one of the other things that is troubling me is that fact that I came off my pills for about 10 days, I have been feeling dizzy and like someone was popping bubble wrap inside my skull, very odd, I went to the doctor and got back on them with a two month supply so that should help with get things back to normal.

2 Hours Sleep

We boarded the plane home from Cyprus on Saturday evening, it was really hot and the plane was crowded, about an hour in to the flight Hazel, my sister-in-law, went into labour, the call over the PA came 'If there is a doctor, nurse or preferably a mid-wife could you please make yourself known to the crew' the captain actually offered to land in Germany on the way, fortunatly she held on until we got home.

The ambulance meet us on the runway and whisked her off to the hospital, we followed them to the hospital before getting to bed at about 5am, Rob called me at 7am to come and get him, they stopped the labour as the baby's lungs hadn't formed yet.

I spent the day rest of the day like a zombie watching the TV shows we had recorded including an excellent episode of 'Ashes To Ashes'

So, here we are the last day of the holiday using up the last of my pre-paid internet card and joining me this afternoon is my little brother; Rob AKA Robster D Mobster.

It is the limbo period between checking out and leaving for the airport and we ae taking full advantage of the fully inclusive service, I am on my third Gin Fizz already and we are going to watch the Tottenham game in a bit, yes we are truly 'Brits abroad'

Rob - A part of me almost feels bad for the way we have abused the free hospitality but then I relise that they must make a profit knowing beer monster brits like us would take full advantage of it. I am looking forward to getting home to see my kids and move into my new house !

I am sitting in the lobby of our really nice hotel in Cyprus, it has been a really nice week so far the weather is tip top, the drinks have been flowing and the food has been plentiful.

I am probably heavier than when we first got here and I have smoked my way thru half a box of cigars, we visited the harbour and market in Pafos yesterday and tomorrow will try and venture out to Coral Bay, I say try as getting out of the sun lounger is a real mission, anyway I am going to go and get in the bar as a cold beer is calling and this internet connection is really slow and costs E5 an hour !

I went to see the long awaiting new 'Dead' movie last night, well it was long awaited by me, I have three words for it: OH MY GOD ! it is amazing, there really isn't anything wrong with it, I could go on about it but there is no way I can put into words how much I liked the movie, just go and see it !

It is getting clsoe to the end of the day of Thursday and this week has been really good, I am super looking forward to going away to Cyprus at the weekend and I have been working hard getting several interviews and a couple of placements, not too bad.

I watched the new 'Bionic Woman' TV show the other day, it was pretty good although I found it pretty annoying as they were pretty much using the American Tv cut and there were breaks all the way through.

Wow, it has been a while since I blogged last, I really should've posted about this before now but here goes, On Sunday I went to see the new 'Rambo' movie with Si, I wasn't that up for it as I can take or leave it but Si loves all that sort of stuff and bargined off seeing 'Diary Of The Dead' later in the week, I really liked it though, the blood and guts count was off the chart and the story was pretty good and I have to say that Sly really still looks the part, well worth seeing if you have a strong stomach.

I really enjoy Saturdays, Karley goes to work so I get to hang about and do whatever I feel like, This morning I got up about 8.00 and hit the bathroom, I went out for breakfast for a massive fried breakfast wtih a nice cuppa, Si came round about 11.00 and we set up a big old 'Call Of Duty 4' session smokin' fools all over the place, I had a nice cigar preparing for my holiday next week, I scored a nice big box of Casano C18 to take with me.

I didn't do much at the weekend, mostly due to the fact that I woke up on Saturday with really bad Conjunctivitis, my eyes were so bad and puffy that it looked like I had been hit in the face with a bat ! I really just spent my time on the sofa watching season 4 of 'The Sopranos' and playing 'Call Of Duty 4' this morning it is starting to get better, which is good as I am going on holiday on the 15th to lovely Cypress, I really can't wait.

I have watched a couple of Zombie flicks over the last few days I never managed to catch before, kicking off the double bill was 'Return Of The Living Dead' which was actually really good, it was a bit of a parody of the oringal 'Night Of The Living Dead' but was good in it's own right, especially the zombies moaning 'Brains' as they chased after the survivors.

Last night I watched 'House Of Dead' which was shocking and not in a good way, it is based on the classic arcade lightgun game and was proper B-movie stuff, it felt like one of those SciFi channel made for TV movies expect it wasn't trying to be funny, check out my review of it on www.hecklerspray.com

I have been a bad blogger

I am not sure why but I haven't been blogging much lately, or reading others for that matter, I am off work today so I thought I'd take advantage and updat the good old kennel, The weekend was pretty good, I went out for a bit of breakfast with Si & Double J and thier other halves before heading back home for an all afternoon 'Call Of Duty 4' sessions, I am trying to pursude Si to get a 360 so we can get some clan action going, I already came up with a name: The Bayside Tigers, like in 'Saved By The Bell' I used to love that show.

Karley and I had the day together on Sunday and went to the cafe to sit outside smoking and drinking coffee, we went for a walk around town and came across a really cool old graveyard that we explored before heading to Tesco to get some food shopping done.

Thanks to my new favourite gadget the BT Vision box we watched the whole first eason of 'Entourage' I never saw it before but really liked it, I couldn't help but imagine that would be what it would be like if i someow became famous; spending the day hanging about with my Brother and Mates.

Knight Rider

I am child of the 80's so I loved 'Airwolf' 'Streethawk 'The ATeam' and of course 'Knight Rider' and I was overcome by mixed emotions when I saw it was coming back in a 'Backdoor Pilot' TV movie, I watched it online earlier today, it was not as bad as I thought it would be, the new KITT is pretty cool and the new Michael Knight is his longlost son, ok, so that is a bit cheesy but I really hope they make this into a full show as it could be really good. I found the post on Google, but for some reason the car is completely different.

In an 80's remake style I noticed on www.IMDB.com that the long awaited 'A-Team' movie is not des out until 2010, how frustrating, however 'Ramb' is out on Friday so that might stave off my disappointment.

I was in a really weird mood today, I stopped taking my pills for a while and coasted on waht was left in my system for a while before crashing out in a big, bad way, I really have a golden opportunity to make something of my life again and I am really afraid of letting it slip trough my fingers as I have a negative attitude and can be a little workshy on occasion, I have managed to make a few appointments but it is not enough, if only I had the self descipline to ramp it up a little bit, actually alot !

Just checked out the trailer for 'Diary Of The Dead' the next movie from the legend that is George A Romero, I think it looks so amazing I might even be in a position to forgive him for 'Land Of Dead' and whilst I think about whatever happened to the remake of 'Day Of The Dead'it was supposed to come out last year and the trailer I did see on youtube seems to have vanished - wierd ! In more related zombie/undead news I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Blu-Ray of 'Day Of The Dead' having just watched 'Dawn' it can't come quick enough as everything about it was fantastic, I makes me wonder if the original 'Night Of The Living Dead' will get an HD transfer, but really is there need to do it for a black and white movie ?

End Of The Week Update

It's been a really cold week, I haven't really done much atall, let's see what I can remeber, I watched 'Dirty Dancing' for the first time ever at the start of the week, it was really rubbish in my opinion, I am a fan of muscial movies, especially 'Grease' and 'Footlose' but there was something so empty about the biggest chick flick of all time, I really didn't GET it if you know what I mean, I contiuned playing large amounts of 'Call Of Duty 4' all week and now reached the rank of Captain, unlocking the top shotgun which to be honest is still a bit rubbish, my three current favourite TV shows are still on, on Tuesday it was a brilliant 'CSI' crossover with 'Without A Trace' which I never really watch but might start on the back of that, I also saw 'Reaper' and 'Ashes To Ashes' last night which is probably the best of the lot.

Nothing much lined up for the weekend, I have Saturday to myself which I always enjoy as I can just do what I like and potter around the house drinking coffee and smoking Cigars.

London At The Weekend

It always staggers me that there are a whole bunch of people that use the train and underground to commute to work day in and day out, I headed up to see my mate Ross after work on Friday and the not too crowded 45 minute train ride to Victoria came to an ubrupt interupted by a crush of people in the underground, I jammed packed myself onto a hot, cramped and uncomfortable tube train and rode it to London Bridge, my Ipod turned up loud and my laptop bag over my shoulder.

I got to Ross at about 6.30pm and we headed to a nice little pub under the railway arches, it was packed with city workers bitching about someone and a couple that were praticually shagging over the table, nice though so we stayed for a couple of beers before heading over to Whitechapel where Ross lives, we decided to go for a Curry, if you are in London Whitechapel is THE place to go, it was spot on and really hot hot hot, a few more beers and I was starting to feel a little worse for wear, we it another pub on the way home, I was feeling really hammered by the time I went to bed at about 2am and had some really freaky dreams.

Saturday, I work up early at about 7.3o and played about on my laptap for a bit, me and Ross went out for breakfast as a bit of a hungover cure at a really up market cafe at Spittlefield Market, we decided the main event of the day was going to be a visit to the Old Vic theatre, Kevin Spacey & Jeff Goldblum are starring in a really interesting thing called 'Speed-The-Plow' I really enjoyed it, I got back on the train at just after 6 and pretty much fell asleep on the way home.

It was a nice sunny but crisp spring day so Karley and I spent a couple of hours sitting outside he cafe in Horsham drinking coffee and watching the world go by, we went to do out food shopping where I treated myself to a super stylish Panama hat for my holiday !

BT Vision and 'Ashes to Ashes'

Yesterday I set up my new BT vision bix, it is a basic freeview TV box with a really cool range of on demand shows from HBO, History, BBC and discovery, it's also got movies and concerts on PPV and probably the two coolest things are the 80GB hard drive, which I already used to record 'Reaper' last night and the fact some HD channels are coming on line soon, nice one !

In other cool news; today saw the first episode of 'Ashes To Ashes' a spin off from the excellent 'Life On Mars' this time it is set in 1981 with loads of Syth music and pastel suits like an unsexy British 'Miami Vice'

Cloverfield

Last night Si and I went to the movies to finally watch my number 1 most anticipated film of the year 'Cloverfield' it was really amazing, I have banged on about it for ages about it and got well into the viral marketing campaign and believe me it is well worth it, there was not one single thing I would have changed about it, the handheld way it was filmed worked really well even though there were warnings on motion sickness plastered all over the place and some of the audience members were pretty vocal about how unimpressed they were with it, the characters were brilliant, the monster looked amazing and you get to see it all not just glimpses and blurred footage as I feared and the whole feel was spot on and I am actually considering going back for another go, if you only see one flick this year make it 'Cloverfield'

Weekend

It was my baby brother's birthday on Saturday and to mark the occasion I treated him to his tattoo, he got a nice scroll and roses piece to honour his kids, there is a space for the new one aswell (picture on Flickr shortly) I had to get one myself and went with heart and wings combo, we popped into the pub after for a cheeky beer, got back home with Si Carter and played some 'COD4' online, in the evening Karley and I had a movie triple header, started off with 'Zoon' which was rubbish, 'Sky High' is better, the much overlooked 'Idiocy' starring Luke Wilson which was really good and finally the excellent 'Kingdom' on shiny HD-DVD, loved it, it really put me in the mood for some more 'Call Of Duty 4'

I slept in until about 10 on Sunday, got up and watched a really interesting thing on the History channel about Roman plastic surgeons, we spent the morning just pottering about the house and went over to my Mums in the afternoon for a Birthday dinner in honour of Rob, I had a really bad headache and 'Lost' was on at 9 so we left about 8.15, I went to bed as I was feeling really poor and Karley watched the first episode of season 4 of 'Lost' I actually caught it in the week online and it is fantastic, Can't wait for the next episode, who is the oceananic 6?

I was messing about on www.apple.com/trailers and I took a look at the trailer for the upcoming 'Star Trek' movie from JJ Abrams, it is really only a teaser but looks really cool, I will defiantly be on board for that one, also, the new season of 'Lost' starts on Sunday on Sky1, only three days after America which is really cool, just to finish off my JJ Abrams threesome the eagerly awaited 'Cloverfield'is out tomorrow, I am going to try and get to see it sometime over the weekend, can't wait

If 'Star Trek' was an excellent trailer then 'Meet The Spartans' is the worse,there is something so basic about these type of movies and the jokes in the trailer about Britney look like they will be out of date by this time next year, I woul'd go and see this if the tickets were free !

It was a pretty good weekend all in all, on Saturday I went down to visit my Aunt and cousin near Bournemouth, I went down with my mum and dad so spent the whole journey flicking about with my Ipod, I didn't get home until about 7.30 by which time Karley had already gone out to see Elvis ! I had a really bad headache so watched 'Ghostrider' on Blu-ray and went to bed fairly early.

Sunday was a nice bright day, little bit cold but actually felt very Spring-like, we headed out to do some food shopping and then in the afternoon went for a nice walk, I have to say I felt like an old couple strolling around the neighbourhood but it was pretty good none the less.

Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur

Last night my brother came over to watch the Tottenham game, we were playing Arsenal our biggest rival in the Semi-final final of the Carling Cup and I am pleased to say we turned them over 5-1 which was excellent, so that means a final against either Everton or probably Chelsea.

A Whole Week

Opps ! I haven't posted for a week so I thought I'd just do an info dump about the last week or so, I have watched a couple of really good movies; 'Fido' on DVD which is really funny about zombies and the surprisingly good 'AVP2' it was everything the first movie should have been, last night I had my first Kung Fu lesson which I enjoyed, it was pretty heavy going but I liked the idea of learning how to beat someone up, I was disappointed that there is no competion as such but the guy I was talking to said that you can go on and get involved with MMA which is like UFC so that's pretty cool.

It's been a depressing week with news of a commet flying towards us and a possible worldwide economic meltdown, I don't really know what to say about it so we'll move swiftly on.

In other news work is starting to get to me, working for comission only is proving to be a little hairy, I think I should look elsewhere but then I am afraid my life will become a cycle of crappy junior level jobs, I need to get my finger out and sort out what I am going to do.

I got a couple of cool Blu-Rays this week, the original 'Dawn Of The Dead' and 'Resident Evil: Extinction' and I am waiting to 'Superbad' and 'The Song Remains The Same' which will be super cool.

Itunes; I went for a bit of a random session picking up Aha and Lars Fredrikson from Rancid and I really like the new(ish) tune by Nickleback, the video is excellent.

Ok, so that will pretty much do it, I'll try and get back to posting a bit more often.

Wet & Wild

Unfortunatly not the water park, but the weather it is really windy and has been all night, I am really tired for some reason, I spent the weekend cleaning the flat, it actually took me the entire day but looked so fresh and so clean once it was done, On Sunday I played a large amount of 'Call Of Duty 4' climbing the ranks and unlocking some really cool stuff.

I have to admit to some movie watching I am not very pleased about, I saw the remake of 'Physco' starring, weirdly, Vince Vaungh, it was an exact copy of the original and to be honest I asked myself WHY? it really wasn't good.

I haven't really ever got into Ebay, I have only ever brought one thing there, my HD-DVD add on the Xbox360, I got Karley's dad to try and sell a wath for me (See Below) and it didn't even get to it's reserve price, that sucks !

I was reading today that Apple are cutting the price of Itunes downloads in the UK from 79p to 74p to be more in line with the rest of Europe, it might not seem like a big deal but I have purchased about 300 tunes so far so that adds up a bit dosen't it?

So yesterday I got my new glasses, they are Ralph Lauren and are they cooler than a polar bears toe nail ! I also got another pair for free which are pretty much the same as my old ones, it was a real surprise how clear everything was when I put them on, it's like the world is in High Def.

I got a call last night to say my new specs are ready to pick up which is, of course, very exciting, I am going to get them after work today. In other news I got a placement today, not a massive one in terms of money but it all helps dosen't it ? Yesterday I had a really uneasy feeling all day which was really wierd, like being on edge for the best part of the day, it got a bit better after we went to Mcdonalds with the nieces and I sat down to watch 'Poltergiest' I just got the special edition DVD which was fantastic, I also recieved the long awaited Blu-Ray of 'Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within' not a great movie but I am sure it'll look super pretty in HD.

Well, it is Sunday late afternoon and I am just watching a bit of NFL and it just occured to me I have done sweet FA all weekend, on Friday night I work up to a fox having a good old shout outside my bedroom window, I couldn't get back to sleep until about 4.30 so I slept in till about 12, got up and pottered about for the rest of the day, today I got up about 10.30 and after a cup of tea and a bath Karley and I spent most of the day watching episodes from the first season of 'Lost'

Back to work tomorrow so I feel a bit bad as I really should have done something with myself for the last 48 hours.

Xmas is a distant memory now, 2008 has come, we stayed in and watched WWE Monday Night Raw, I went back to work yesterday which was a bit of a struggle, especially as it was pitch black when the alarm went off, I hate that ! As I haven't actually posted for a week or so I thought I'd better just do an info dump and bring the Kennel right upto date, the picture above is of my and Jessica (My youngest niece) on Christmas morning, notice my VERY short new hair cut and bleary eyes from being up since 5.30am, needless to say I had a power nap in the afternoon to make sure I could keep up the jolly so to speak.

The last few days have been weird, the period between Christmas and New Year is a bit of limbo and with Karley working and being without a car I have just hung about the house which is ok, I have been playing a lot of 'Call Of Duty 4' online and with help from Ross and Si Carter I have moved up the ranks, talking of those two 'Crafty Butchers' we hit the movies the other day and saw 'I Am Legend' which was really good, the cinema was packed which wasn't so good, how come during a two hour movie so many people need to get up and leave to go the toliet?

Yesterday, Karley and I ventured out to Tesco for some food shopping, they have just opened an opticians and were doing free check-ups so we took advantage both our eye sights have got worse so and as they were doing buy one get one free on designer frames I got a really nice pair of Ralph Lauren ones that make me look like the lead singer of Linkin Park, especially with my shaved hair.

What else happened ? I got a really wicked old skate board tune from the seminal 'Hocus Pocus' by H-Street, it's called 'Roam Around' and hearing it bought the memories flooding back.....

....ok that's about it Happy New Year !

Blu-ray is a go

Yesterday my HDMi cable finally arrived so I could properly set up my new Blu-ray player, I have a decent starting collection of discs;

'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind'
'Pirates Of The Caribbean At Worlds End'
'Meet The Robinsons'
'Ghostrider'
'The Big Hit'
'28 Weeks Later'
'Flatliners'

And my free copy of the 'Spiderman' trilogy on it's way.

So to test it out I flicked thru the 'Pirates' movie, the picture quality was tip top, my TV supports 1080i so it is nice and clear, the only gripe I have is that the disc took a while to load up, I guess that was due to the BD-Rom stuff on there, I'll probably watch a couple of movies later so we'll see what they are like.

Jerry Lewis Vs Eddie Murphy

Last night I watched the original 'Nutty Professor' from back in the early 60's starring Jerry Lewis, I have to say it was much better than the remake, the humor was pretty basic in a slapstick sort of way but it was much less of a one man show than Eddie Murphy's version, in fact even Karley liked it and she usually hates old movies, one interesting thing is that the love interest 'Miss Purdy' in the remake is another teachcer at the university is actually one of the professors students, how times have changed.

It is fast approaching Xmas and the weather is really cold, it looks like a Christmas card with heavy white frost on the roofs and a thick mist, I finished work yesterday so I am off work until the 2nd of January which is nice as time off is always fun, I am watching the 'American Chopper' marathon on the Discovery Channel and tomorrow I think I'll indulge in some Xbox action.

This morning I left pretty early to drop my car back to the lease company, it is another little part of getting myself back to normal and banish the memories of the last couple of years, when I got back home I had an overwhelming urge to shave all my hair off so I did, I am completely bald now, probably not the best idea as it is really cold at the moment but I feel a little bit better for doing it

We really turned the festivities up to 11 over the weekend, I was home alone on Saturday so spent the time padding about watched 'Harry Potter' on HD and played a bit of 'Project Gotham 4' I set up my new Blu-ray player but it actually didn't come with an HDMI cable with is fairly rubbish, so ordered one for £9.99 and possible more frustratingly I am still waiting for my discs to be delivered so not got anything to watch at the moment, I went online to register my player with Sony and Claim the 'Spiderman' Trilogy and found that I will also get 'The Pirates Of The Caribian' set aswell sot that's pretty cool.

On Sunday we went to see Santa, there was something magically looking at the look on Sophie and Jessica's faces as he asked them if they had been good and what they wanted him to bring them, then Jessica ruinied it by sneezing right in his face, very funny ! Karley and I went to see the now famouos lights in Petworth Drive, Horsham, it is the last year they are doing it in aid of St. Catherine's Hospice, over the last 10 years they have raised over £50,000

Spent the rest of evening on the sofa watching CSI and some of the Cleveland Browns game.

I had the day off yesterday, I have a really bad ear ache, it feels like there is a massive lump of wax in there or something it is really painful, so much so that I was up at about 4am yesterday with a hot water bottle against my head watching back to back Episodes of 'The Simpsons' from the season 9 boxset, staying home for the day has worked a bit as it is getting better although I am a bit deaf in my left ear at the moment!

Yesterday I joined the Blu-ray generation as my Sony player arrived, it was a bit of craxy purchase as I probably should have not got it but it made me feel happy....for about five minutes! that is the newest thing I am working on. I haven't hooked it up yet mostly becasue I don't feel like getting on my hands and knees behind the TV and also as I haven't got anything to play on it at the moment, although it came with a voucher to get the 'Spiderman' Trilogy for free, I already have them all but not bad for free I guess.

Last night we continued our Xmas movie watching with the classic 'National Lampoons Christmas Vaction' so good, if you only watch one yule tide film this year make it that one as it is easily the best of Chevy Chase's recent output, triva fans note: he was offered the lead in 'American Beauty' but turned it down, Fool !

BT Vision for free

I got a call on Sunday from BT who supply my broadband, I have been with them for a year and they asked if I wanted to stay with them, the price was £19.99 a month down from £29.99 and they would chuck in BT Vision for free, it is basically a freebox with a hard drive for recording, not bad, I'll put it in the bedroom as it would be nice to get all the extra channels whilst laying in bed.

It has been a slightly disjointed week, I was off work sick on Tuesday with a really hardcore migrane, not nice, I spent nearly the whole day asleep, felt much better on Wednesday but thst day out in the middle of week really made it fly by, I got my second ever placement today, a really nice one for a guy called Oliver at an air conditioning company, it earned me some money so everyones a winner ! my doctor has reduced my dose of happy pills as the increased amount seemed to make my moods wildly yoyo over the course of the day I was going from on top of the world to suicidle several times, it seems to be ok for now and I'll get back to see him in the new year.

I submitted my first review for the www.hecklerspray.com site, did you know it is the fifth most visited blog in the UK ? pretty exciting.

That's about it, we are planning to go to the Natural History Museum in London tomorrow which will be good, keep an eye out for some pics of that one.

Xmas is coming

As the festive season rapidly approaches Karley got it in her head that she wanted to put up Christmas Tree so after much debate over where to put it we hung the tinsel and instead of a star at the top Spiderman is there in all his webslinging glory !

Just to top it all off we had a festive movie double bill with 'The Polar Express' which looked amazing in HD and the classic 'Gremlins'

The weekend itself was really wet, on Friday it hammered with rain as my borther and me watched Horsham Vs Swansea, we were lucky enough to get a draw and force a replay next week, a couple of my other mates Si and Double J came over and we hit 'Guitar Hero 3' hard.

Duck Soup

I am a massive movie geek, you may already know that, and recently I have been getting into the really old stuff, a couple of weeks ago I watched 'The Creature From The Black Lagoon' I haven't watched anything starring the Marx brothers so last night when I noticed that 'Duck Soup' (1933) was on I had to check it out and T have to say I thought it was really good, only lasted about an hour but you can see what a 70 year old movie did to influence modern comedies, it has inspired me to track down some more of the old classics, especially more Marx brothers and Charlie Chaplin, I think it is amazing that they are 70+ years old and yeah they are a bit ropey by todays standards but impossible to watch without a smile on your face.

I also noticed that one of the character names was in Rob Zombie's 'House Of 1000 Corpses': Rufus T Firefly ! - that is movie trivia my friends !

Yesterday I did pretty much all of my xmas shopping, no busy shops, no queues and no trying to find a parking space, I did it all online and I am well pleased with what I got, I can't say on here what it is as I know both my Mum and Brother are regualr visiters to the Kennel but I hope they will be pleased, I also treated myself to a Superman mug and coaster set, maybe I should wrap it up and act surprised on Christmas morning ?
